The Christmas Bazaar started almost 30 years ago as the Wirral Bazaar, born from a group of friends wanting to take action and help in the fight against cancer.
Today, the Bazaar Committee is made up of a small but dedicated group of volunteers, including Jennie Corlett and Alison Tongue, who work throughout the year to organise the successful fundraiser.
The Committee is also supported by a huge and loyal group of friends, who over the years have given up their time to help – be it on the admission and raffle desks; serving teas, coffees and cakes; standing in the cold helping with the parking, or spreading the word.
A PERSONAL JOURNEY
Each arrived at a seat on the original Wirral Committee through her own personal journey. Some have lost loved ones, friends or work colleagues to cancer; some have fought the disease themselves.
Between them they have a passion and a vision; a world without one of its cruelest diseases.
In short these ladies mean business – but that doesn’t mean they don’t have fun amidst all the hard work. Throughout the years the Committee have contributed much needed funds to their chosen charities, provided a valuable retail forum for small businesses and made life-long friends along the way.
WE ARE EXTREMELY PASSIONATE AND HAVE A CLEAR VISION; A WORLD WITHOUT ONE OF ITS CRUELLEST DISEASES.
SHOPPING, HAVING FUN & BEATING CANCER
The Christmas Bazaar has been held in November for the past 31 years, and is a firm favourite in many of our visitors’ diaries.
Originally held in the Walled Garden Marquee at Thornton Manor, attracting over 60 stallholders and 3,500 visitors yearly, the event has found a new home at Chester Racecourse for 2022, opening up to even more visitors with room to grow in future years.
Each year, the Committee work tirelessly to bring new and exciting stallholders to The Bazaar, ensuring that there is a wonderful variety of unique and beautiful gifts for all members of the family – including the dog!
With each stallholder donating 10% of their takings to the Charity, every purchase you make makes a direct contribution to life-saving cancer research in the North West, so it’s guilt free shopping.
If you wish you can have a break and relax with a cup of tea or coffee, cake or light bite in our refreshments area, whilst being entertained with live music.
The Christmas Bazaar is also proud to be a member of the Charity Fairs Association.
FUNDING THE RESEARCH TO BEAT CANCER
All proceeds from The Christmas Bazaar are donated to North West Cancer Research – our only local, independent cancer research charity fighting the toughest cancers in the North West and North Wales, and putting our region’s cancer needs first.
